Bonito- Burrito Dinner

So tonight I cooked one of my hubby's favorite meals that his mom makes, burritos. It's actually not that hard. It's super easy. They only hard part was defrosting the meat. :)

Ingredients:
- About 3-4 pounds of meat. I used 80/20, but I like 85/15 (less grease to drain after it's cooked.).
- chopped onions
- seasoning for the meat (I used onion pwder, garlic pwder, chili pwdr, and black pwder) I eye ball it and then taste it.
- tortillas (flavor of your choice... I mainly use flour tortillas)
- refried beans
- Shredded cheese
- 9 x 13 pan
- Oven to 350

*This recipe will be a little different than what I normally do. I think it'll be a whole lot better.*

In short, here is what I did:

1. Lay tortillas flat on counter and spread beans evenly one side.
2. Sprinkle cheese over the beans.
3. Pour the meat on top. About one spoon scoop.
4. Roll the tortilla like an enchilada. Then I put a small touch of beans, where the tortilla that will be on the outside touches. This helps seal it shut (in my opinion).
5. Place in the baking dish.
6. Repeat process until the pan is full. (I can normally fit about 8 in a dish.
7. Then I spread the beans on top of the tortillas. Nothing perfect just hap hazardly.
8. Then I put some more onions on top (because I like onions).
9. Then I poured the rest of the meat on top.
10. Then I put cheese on top of it again.
11. Then bake at 350 for about 15 minutes. Just until everything is heated and the cheese is melted.

side note: I put some picante sauce on top and it was good.

Enjoy!!

The garden

Here is the second part of the garden. As I said before, we put newspaper down and then put the garden soil on top. Here is the hubby putting the paper down.

Here is the second finished bed. It's starting to shape up real nice.

The growing garden

So the other day, the hubby drags me to Lowes to get Garden Soil. So off we went and bought like 12 bags of that stuff. When we got home he put down newspaper in the beds and then put the soil on top. Next (Friday) we will get some bags of chicken manure to add, when it comes in at the nursery. Below is two shots of what the garden is starting to look like.

Well, the hubby is banging on the window to get me out there to help with the next bed. So off I go.

Finishing the bathroom

So I'm almost finished with the master bathroom. I"m super super excited. I finished the second to last part, the tub. Here is what it looked like before. As you can see, the yellow stuff is the glue backing that is between the vinyl wall paper and what you stick it too. On the floor in the front I have a sponge, glass of water, and a putty tool.

I dipped the sponge in the water and then whipped the glue backing. After I got it soaked enough and waited about 1 minute, I used the putty tool and started scrapping the glue off. The water makes it super easy to peel right off. I've had multiple people tell me to use the wall paper stuff from Lowes or Home Depot, but the truth is water works just as good, and it's free. :) The one thing not in the picture is frog tape. I love it. It's way better than Blue painters tape. When you pull it up, it doesn't pull the paint off with it and it pulls up super easy, not like it's stuck to the surface it's on. What I did with the frog tape is lined the area I was going to texture before I sprayed the texture on.

Here is the texture I bought from Lowes. We used this texture through out our whole bathroom experience. It took us more cans that what we thought, but I'm really happy with the out come of it.

Below you can see the front of the tub looks like after I put the frog tape down and then sprayed the texture. After I let it set for about 5-10 minutes (the color turns from blue to white) I started painting. It took only about 15 minutes to paint the whole thing.

Here is the finished project. I'm super happy with the over all look of the bathroom. It's really turned out great. Now on to the kitchen.

************************************************
Here is the bathroom before with the wall paper. You can see I've somewhat got the paper off.

A HUGE thank you goes out to the hubby!! If it wasn't for him, I'd spent more timet than I really wanted to. I took a total of 2 months and he did most of the work. He got the paper pulling rhythm faster than I did.

Bird Feeder Part 2

So the hubby asked if we could hang his bird feeder outside today. So after some searching, in our 20 foot deep backyard, he found a spot on the fence in front of the windows to the living room. He nailed it to the fence and put a support beam under neath the bottom to help stabilize it. This is how it turned out.

Now all we have to do is fill it with seed and wait for the squirrels, I mean birds come and enjoy it.

Bird Feeder

So the Hubby decided to build a bird feeder. It took him about an hour with some old wood in our backyard. When we got our dogs he had to fix the fence and these are the left over boards. He's so frugal and can't throw them away so he repurposed them. I think he did a really good job.

The Master Bath

So I have been working on my master bath since Thanksgiving. UGH!!!! This has been the longest, worst, and most laboring project I have done. Have you ever seen that movie "Money Pit"? That's how I'm starting to feel about my house.

BUT!!!!! FINALLY!!!!! I have finished the bathroom except one part, the front of the tub. Hopefully, I'll get that done soon. Ha ha ha!!! But in the meantime, here are some pictures of what is finished. :) I'm pretty happy about how it's turning out.
