Coffee Mug Swap

So today I was reading a blog by Lauren at http://www.frommygreydeskblog.com/. Apparently there is a Coffee Mug Swap going on during April at http://suzelssays.blogspot.com/p/coffee-mug-swap.html.

Well, I didn't read Lauren's coffee post until today and found out that it ends today. :/ So I emailed Susan and asked if it was still going on and if I could get in on it. So we shall see what she says. Hopefully someone is in need of a partner. If not there is always next time.

Who doesn't like drinking out of a coffee cup that some random stranger picked for you? I think it's a cool idea. Sometimes I wish I was more creative than what I am. I remember when I used to be so creative. Too bad 30 is 3 years away. I have no excuse. :)

Talking about coffee, over the weekend my husband and I went downtown on a all day date Saturday. It was wonderful we had lunch a really good family own Greek restaurant. You had to wait in line for 5-10 minutes just to order. Then it was another 20 to get your order, but it was well worth it in my book. I'm not a big Greek eater but their food was out of this world. Their Gyros was fabulous and so was their homemade honey balls. I could have eaten a full order.

Side tracking. Coffee, that's what we are talking about. We found this brand of coffee called Kona Fancy. Apparently it comes from Hawaii and is super expensive. We're talking like $30 a pound expensive. We bought half a pound and made a one cupper in our Kureg and it was so smooth, and delicious. I have never had coffee that wonderful.

There's this other brand called Jamaica Blue Mountain. And let me tell you, these two types put Starbucks to shame. If I could afford this at home all the time, I'd buy that instead.

Is it sad that I can't wait until tomorrow morning to drink another glass?

What's your favorite coffee?

UPDATE!!!
**************************

So today (May 4) I got my mug from Tiffany. I LOVE it!!! It's perfect and it came just in time too. Tomorrow morning I'm going to get up and have a cup of coffee and sit on my back porch and swing while I do my morning talk and devotion to God.

THANK YOU Tiffany!!!! I really do love it. I am so excited to drink out of it that I might have to have some tea tonight to break it in. :) I look forward to getting to know Tiffany better. She seems like a super sweet and fun girl.

Here is the coffee cup she sent. I literally just got it in the mail a few minutes ago. :)

The cup is actually in pink.

Ok maybe I should post a better picture than black and white. Hold on.......

........... here we go!!

Guest Bathroom

Yesterday I stopped at the local Marshall's store and Pier 1 Imports. I  found this really pretty shelf and picture frame.

Since my guest bathroom is simi- small, this really added character and helped make it look a little more homey.

Best Cookie Dough Recipe

A coworker made this at work and it was fabulous. I  can't wait to make this at home for my hubby.

1 pkg of cream cheese

1 stick of butter

1 bag of mini chocolate chips

¾ cup of powdered sugar

¼ cup brown sugar

1 tsp vanilla

1 tsp amaretto (if you don’t have amaretto double the vanilla)

½ bag of heath candy pieces (you could do nuts too if you’d like)

Soften the cream cheese & butter.  Using a hand mixer on slow (the kitchen aide creates too much heat) add the powdered sugar and blend well.  Add the brown sugar and blend well.  Then crank up to high and add vanilla and amaretto.  Once everything is incorporated mix in the chocolate chips by hand.  Chill in the fridge for an hour or two and then shape into a ball, roll in the heath candies and serve with graham sticks.  Yummo!!!

Eating the garden

Last night was the first night I actually ate something out of my garden. I was super excited too. For dinner the hubby and I made homemade fajitas. They were good except I think the meat needed to be marinated a little longer. It was still tuff. I needed cilantro for the marinade so I went to the garden and cut some. Man, was it strong too. Right when I talked in the door Hubby could smell it. Then I washed it and put it in the bag with the meat and it tasted wonder. This got me thinking about how the food in the store and how it doesn't taste nearly this fresh or delicious.

Suspect Sheet

Over the weekend I went to a murder mystery dinner at a friends house. We had a blast and had some great food (thanks guys). At the very end of playing we found out who the murder was. It was me, Tiara Sparkle. :) I had some mad knife throwing skills as a beauty queen and stabbed Blaine's wife in the back in the wine cellar. Ha ha ha ha, I'm ruthless. Don't mess with me.

Here is a picture of the crew.

New Mexico to Arizona

Warning: This post might be long, due to not being able to post last night.

Yesterday we left Albuquerque and stopped in Gallup. There wasn't much going on in Gallup. We walked the downtown area and bought a native Navajo rug. I didn't get a picture of the rug before the lady at the counter wrapped it but it's really pretty. It's mainly gray with some browns and blacks in it. It has a nice abstract pattern to it.

After driving through Gallup we stopped at the Petrified Forest National Park. It was a 28 mile drive of coolness. Check out the pictures below. Here we are at the entrance of the park.

You can see how open it is.

Here is the marker for the original Route 66.

More of the National Park.

Petrified Wod

This is called Blue Mesa. We walked to the bottom and then back to the top.

More petrified wood.

The sunset on the way to Flagstaff Arizona (but still in New Mexico).

I got to stand on the corner in Winslow, Arizona.

Here is the flatbed Ford.

After we left Winslow, we drove to Flagstaff, Arizona and spent the night. We ate dinner at a place called Buster's. Dave had the pork chops and I had the chicken caesar salad.

Today we went to Sedona, the grand canyon and then spent the night in Kayenta, Arizona.

This is the Grand Canyon.

I didn't realize it until we got to the hotel tonight but we both got sun burned from the grand canyon. Even our eyes hurt.

Albuquerque Day 2

We got up this morning and had breakfast and decided that we should stay another day. So I talked to the front desk and booked another night (because my hubby didn't want to book hotels in case we got somewhere and didn't want to be tied down to that place due to a hotel reservation).

For some reason I woke up at 2 and couldn't sleep. So for some unknown reason I looked out the hotel window and saw that it was snowing...... pretty good. By the time we got up and got ready for the day, it had warmed up enough to melt the snow. :(

Since it's Sunday we went to church services first thing (after breakfast). After services we found two places on Diner Drive-ins and Dives (or DDD). I talked about this before in my last post yesterday. We tried to eat at Cecilia's but they were closed today. So we drove to Sophia's place.

In truth, it was ok. We both had the pork tacos and they were good, but messy. I ended up staining my shirt because it was so juicy.

After we left lunch, we spent the majority of the day at the Nuclear Museum. It was pretty cool. I got to be a kid again and play with some really cool toys. They had this backyard section with many plans from some past wars. We took some pictures next to the plains and I didn't realize how big they were. Check out the pictures below.

After we visited the museum we visited what's called "Old Town". It's where Albuquerque started.

Then for dinner I found this local pizza place called Giovanni's Pizzaria. It was pretty good. We got it and brought it back to the hotel. It was pepperoni and green chili. Man I'm noticing a pattern here. They all like green chili's on their pizza.  I heard the McDonalds will put it on your egg mcmuffin if you want. We might have to try that one out.

Tomorrow we head to Arizona.
